May has arrived! the season of love, where everything begins to bloom, and every feeling seems just a little more vivid.
We would like to warmly invite you to Adoro Ensemble’s upcoming concert, Dawn & Death — A Monteverdi Madrigal Night on the Bittersweetness of Love, part of our annual Madrigal of May (May-drigal) project.
At the threshold between night and day, love reveals its most fragile truths. In this program, we invite you into an intimate journey through the madrigals of Claudio Monteverdi, music that breathes with human longing, vulnerability, and transformation.
Under the artistic direction of Dr. Joung-A Monica Yum, the program is shaped as a continuous emotional arc rather than a sequence of individual pieces. Monteverdi’s madrigals become a kind of chamber theatre, where the human voice carries desire, tension, joy, and loss with striking immediacy. Through this interpretive lens, the works unfold as a unified “love story,” tracing the delicate passage from awakening to memory.
Rooted in Adoro Ensemble’s mission to bridge cultures, eras, and spiritual traditions, Dawn & Death offers this timeless human drama as a reflection of our own lives where every ending holds the possibility of transformation, and every silence gestures toward new light.
