Lauds to St. Francis of Assisi:
Celebrating Eight Centuries of Franciscan Spirituality in Music
Sunday, March 1, 2:00 – 3:30 PM
John Carol Parish Center
This year marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. To help us celebrate the lasting impact of this most beloved saint, our own Dr. Byron Adams will lead us in a presentation of Franciscan influences in music history. Martini, Poulenc, and Walton are among those who have drawn inspiration from St. Francis. Come and enjoy this program celebrating the faith of Francis in the works of significant composers.
Dr. Byron Adams is a composer, conductor, and music historian. His essays have appeared in journals such as 19th-Century Music, The Musical Quarterly, and Music & Letters as well as in numerous books.
